How We Work With A Danish Manufacturer As Their International B2B Marketing Agency
We’re Exponential, a B2B marketing agency based in Estonia. Most of our clients sit somewhere else in Europe, and we run their paid acquisition from here. One of them is a Danish company that makes telescopic conveyors, the extendable belt systems that reach into trucks and containers to load and unload them in warehouses. They sell across Europe and the US. We handle the digital marketing that brings them leads.
Hiring an international b2b growth marketing agency is a harder decision than hiring one down the road. You can’t drop by the office. You’re trusting people you mostly see on a Zoom screen.
Because of that, this post skips the high-level strategy fluff and focuses on the boring, useful part: how the daily cooperation actually works. If you’re a CMO weighing up an agency in another country, this is the operational reality you actually want to see.
The team dynamics
We met them at a tech conference about a year ago. Our founder, Urmet Seepter, was speaking on stage, and their marketing team came up afterwards. We’ve run the account since.
Their internal team is small: an international marketing manager and a couple of marketing specialists. That detail matters. A lean internal team cannot do everything itself, so it needs an outside agency that behaves like an internal department, not a detached vendor.
Here is exactly what we manage for them:
- Google Ads & YouTube: targeted across Europe and the US, localized in English, French and German.
- LinkedIn Ads: a mix of account-based marketing and broader cold outreach.
- Meta Ads: account-based against named companies, plus broader awareness and retargeting.
For a manufacturer selling complex, high-ticket equipment to a highly specific set of buyers, wide reach is a waste of money. Account-based marketing, or ABM, means aiming your ads and outreach at a named list of companies instead of a wide audience. So we target a tight list of logistics hubs and enterprise buyers. Because of that focus, our target is 6 to 10 highly qualified leads a month. It’s not a flood. But given their average deal size, a flood isn’t what moves their bottom line.
The 3-layer communication model of a B2B growth marketing agency
Distance only creates a black box if your communication is broken. We prevent that with three distinct layers of contact:
Slack for the daily execution
This is where the actual work lives. We post status updates, share ad-hoc changes and pass creative files back and forth. It reads like an internal company chat.
The benefit: if a competitor updates a product page and someone on their side spots it, it goes into Slack. By the afternoon, we’ve updated the Google ad copy that quoted the old spec. Decisions happen in minutes, not in a scheduled meeting days away.
The fortnightly deep dive
Every two weeks, we sync on the things that require broader alignment: the next target account list, upcoming LinkedIn creative or budget reallocations. Crucially, part of this meeting is mentoring. We explain why the algorithms are behaving a certain way so their team actually owns the strategy, rather than just reading a summary report we handed them.
In-person strategy (3x a year)
We fly to Denmark three times a year for the heavy lifting: annual strategy, brand pivots or entering a new geographic market. These conversations are nuanced and simply happen better in a room together. The rest of the year, we don’t need the room.
Where it gets difficult (the honest part)
We won’t pretend that distance is a heroic obstacle we uniquely overcame. Estonia and Denmark share a near-identical timezone: a same-day answer is just standard professionalism.
The real friction is quieter.
First, finding the signal in the noise. Send too little data and a client feels out of the loop. Send too much and you bury a busy marketing manager in metrics they don’t have time to read. Early on, we over-reported. We had to learn to filter out the platform noise and only escalate what impacted pipeline velocity.
Second, the internal sell. Inside their company, our day-to-day contacts have to defend the marketing spend to their VP, the sales team and the CFO who signs off the budget. We aren’t in those internal boardrooms. That means our real job isn’t just to build high-converting campaigns, it’s to arm our clients with the exact data and clarity they need to explain our value when we aren’t there. If they can’t easily re-tell our strategy to their boss, we haven’t done our job.
Proximity is a comfort, not a requirement
You don’t need your growth agency to be in the same city. You need them to be responsive, clear and honest about what is working and what is failing.
Good communication handles the heavy lifting that people think a local office address does. We run this exact model for B2B companies across Europe from our office in Estonia. If you’re hesitating to hire abroad simply because of the distance, that is usually the easiest problem on the table to solve.
